Yesterday my friends Bill McGuire and Michael Walton teamed up to bring Petit Tresor to my RL house at last. It has been many months since the house went to live in Bill's workshop where he used his considerable skills to help me make this a dream house.
You may remember that right after I got this house, Michael made me a whole new facade, which magically changed it from Victorian to French!
Just for fun, this is what the original house looked like. Not me.
Here is the house when Michael was finished with it.
I don't seem to have taken a photo of the inside for some odd reason. The main thing I did was remove the stairs and change the configuration of the interior walls.
So yesterday was the day. In order to make room, I ended up dismantling a Federal-style townhouse that I renovated early in my mini career and was saving for a grandchild someday. My sister-in-law found the house at an antique shop in Virginia -- and shipped it out to me as a Christmas surprise. Lucky for me, Michael took that house to put in his shop window where I hope someone will fall in love with it and buy it on the spot. There are no grandchildren on my horizon any time soon and when there is one, I will do a dollhouse just for her or him.
The townhouse had been in our third bedroom, now the domain of my youngest son. Yesterday morning son Bill and I moved my tea shop out of my study and into his room for the moment, so that PT could reside in the tea shop's space in my study. Confused?
Here is a first look at the facade of Petit Tresor with all the rooms lit up. The table it is on is actually the perfect height.
And here it is open so you can see the (as yet empty) rooms. Bill did the cleverest thing. He made a little groove on the left side of the flat roof so that when the roof is up, it stays up. Hands free! Another thing he did was add a ceiling to the top floor. The original house had no ceiling...the roof was the ceiling, which was a little weird.
I hope to start the fun part tomorrow--filling the house will all the beautiful minis I have been stashing just for this house.
Stay tuned.

Your house is beautiful. Bill did a fabulous job. Have fun filling the house. IndyPoppy
ReplyDeleteIt always fascinates me when I see an empty house in the beginning devoid of wallpaper and floor tiles and hardwood and then I see it all made up with the lights, wallpaper, and floors all finished. I just find it so inspiring. It's amazing the transformation you have accomplished. I am especially impressed with the entrance with the staircase. I am so looking forward to seeing it filled with all the treasures you intend to put into it.
ReplyDeleteUn trabajo impresionante el que se ha hecho en esa preciosa casa!!!! Que ganas de verla ir avanzando en su interior!!!

Hi Sophia,

Cheers,

I so appreciate all your kind comments. This house has been a real labor of love. And to think that I almost abandoned it midway through its transformation because I decided it was too small! Which it is, but there you go.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to have the help of so many wonderful friends and artisans in designing and decorating the inside. I did a ton of research to make sure both the exterior and interior were "right" for the structure.
Since this comment is getting to be long, I will do another post soon.
But thank you all again! Today the fun begins again!
