My good friend Ray Whitledge has been blogging over at his place http://modernminiatures-whitledge-burgess.blogspot.com/ about the making of some lovely draperies using his peerless technique.
I am happy to reveal that I am the lucky recipient of those drapes, which are now hanging in my Bistro, Chez Sophie. Thank you, Ray!!!!
Most of you will recall that I took Ray and Scott's bistro class last summer and worked on my box for months afterwards. The fabric came from a wonderful fabric store in Toronto. My friend Martha McLean and I always make a trip there when I am up visiting. I have never seen so many silks suitable for miniatures in one place before.
I hope I'm not boring you with the latest photos with the beautiful drapes in place.
Here's a close-up of the restaurant side and the drapes. Aren't they fab?
Ray, you're the best!!!!

Ray did a superlative job!! Those drapes are simply stunning and I love the colour. Please, please, pretty please, tell me where the store is in Toronto?

For my Canadian friends, and those intrepid travelers: the fabric store I mentioned is
ReplyDeleteis Designer Fabrics, 1360 Queen Street West, 416.531.2810. www.designerfabrics.ca
Totally amazing place!

The drapes even look better in a setting!
ReplyDeleteThe drapes are just perfect for your restaurant Sophia. While Ray was makeing them for someone I allready had the feeling he was makeing them for you.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching Ray's tutorial too and it's lovely to see the curtains in situ.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that the drapes look even better than they do in the photos! The stripe is so subtle but it really makes the fabric look more lively than the photos indicate.
ReplyDeleteJeffry, are you clairvoyant??????

The curtains are wonderful Sophia, and so is the bistro!
ReplyDeleteI have read Ray's tutorial when he made those drapes and oddly enough, I also thought of you! The drapes are breathtakingly beautiful in their setting. They match their surroundings to perfection. The colour is just right.
ReplyDeleteNiewiarygodnie piękne miejsce! Cudowne! Uściski!

ReplyDeleteHello Sophia,
ReplyDeleteYour Bistro is absolutely beautiful. The drapes are wonderful and your work is spectacular!
Great job! Have a great weekend,

Thank you for all the nice comments. This bistro is one of my favorite projects, although I love every box I have done with Ray and Scott. I feel very fortunate to have been able to take classes with them because my skills have absolutely improved as a result. Still not good enough to make my own drapes, though! I think I am more of a collector than a maker.
